Gobi Desert with Kharkhorum

1st Day, Arrival in Mongolia

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar in the morning. Customs procedures, meeting with the guide and transfer to the capital, beginning of the visits to the capital: the Buddhist monastery of Gandan, the heart of Buddhism in Mongolia, where the past, present and future of Mongolia coexist in evocative harmony. Visit the National Museum of Mongolia, and the main square. (L/D)

2nd Day, Departure from UB to Baga Gazrin Ghuluu - Middle Gobi 260 km

In the morning, we will travel along the Dundgobi province. The stop is scheduled at Baga Gazrin Chuluu, to admire another suggestive rocky region that rises majestically on the steppe; it was a Buddhist place of which only the ruins remain. 3rd Day, Tsagaan Suvraga – Middle Gobi 280 km

In the morning after breakfast, continuation towards Gobi up to Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa in Mongolian), where you can admire the spectacular rock formations with surreal shapes, whose color changes on the stripes. Full board. Standard Tsagaan suvarga tented camp (gher without bathroom) (B/L/D)

4th Day, Eagle Valley 275 km.

In the morning, continuation to Yol Am (the picturesque valley of the eagle), 230 km away, in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan mountains: a spectacular and very long green gorge carved by a river in the heart of the desert. Chance of spotting eagles, vultures, ibex and other rare desert animals. Accommodation in a tented camp. Full board.

5th Day, Eagle Valley - Khongor Dunes 156 km

Today, traveling south-west off-road, we will reach the spectacular sand dunes of Khongor, known as 'the singing dunes' due to the sound effects of the wind. Arrival in the early afternoon. At the end of the afternoon, there is the possibility of climbing some of the dunes on foot (the climb takes about an hour, it is tiring but doable for anyone), to enjoy the panoramic view from the dunes. Accommodation in wooden villas (Russian dacha style) with private facilities and electricity, inside the Gobi Erdene tented camp (house with bathroom) (B/L/D)

Day 6, Khongor Dunes - Bayanzag 140 km

After breakfast we continue towards Bayanzag, to see the "Flaming Cliffs", where important dinosaur remains were found by numerous paleontologists including Roy Chapman

Andrews. The first discoveries of dinosaur eggs were made here

This area is called "Flaming Cliffs" due to the red-orange color of the rocks.

7th Day, Bayanzag - Onghiin khiid 180 km

Second visit to the Bayanzag site in the light of dawn, then visit to a desert shrub forest. Continuation to reach the area of the great Mongolian prairie. Visit the spectacular ruins of the Onghi Monastery, in the desert, which create an extraordinary scenic effect. Full board

8th Day, Onghiin Hiid - Kharakorum 250 km

In the Orkhon valley is today the Kharakorin region which takes its name from the ancient capital of the Mongol empire in the thirteenth century Karakorum, Visit the Kharakhorin museum, and Erdene Zuu Buddhist Temple. (B/L/D)

9th Day, Kharkhorin - Khustai 315 Km

After breakfast, continuation to the Khustai national park (250 km of asphalt road and tracks), crossing the boundless Mongolian steppe, lunch on the road and a stop at a local restaurant, continuing the route we will come towards the evening in Khustai Park to see the famous horses wild animals which are very rare takhi (Equus ferus przewalskii), the ancestors of today's Mongolian horses. Dinner in the investigation center. Accommodation in Moltsog els tented camp (gher with bathroom) (B/L/D)

Day 10, Khustai – Ulaanbaatar 80 Km

In the morning, after breakfast we depart for the return to Ulaanbaatar. Last hours available for shopping. Visit the national folk concert tonight. Lunch during the trip and dinner in the hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 11, Ulaanbaatar - Terelj National Park

After breakfast departure for the Terelj National Park. Visit to the Chinghis Khaan Monument, and accommodation at the gher camp. After lunch we set off again to visit the Aryabal meditation temple. Stop at the turtle rock on the route. (gher with bathroom) (B/L/D)

Day 12, Terelj / Home

Transfer to the airport. Flight back home
